LABUAN, April 5, 2020 - The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) EC 725 AP helicopter launched the first flight to deliver food supplies to the Bario area in Sarawak.

The task force assigned to No 5 Squadron, Labuan Air Base has successfully deployed four flights using the EC725 AP helicopter to Bario involving two sets of crew members. The first crew was led by Lt Kol Vachiral Ratanaphan a/l Ban Teang RMAF while the second crew was led by Mej Frezal bin Raynol.

Delivery of basic food supplies to the interior of Sarawak by the RMAF in collaboration with the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) to identified areas, will take 4 to 5 days, depending on the weather. Other locations to be provided with this delivery assistance are Telang Usan, Baram, Old, Sri Aman and Kapit.

Sarawak Food Supply Aid Symbolic Ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Chief Minister, Honorable Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg at Hangar Bomba, Miri Airport. He announced that the Sarawak State Government had approved an allocation of RM16.4 million, to supply essential food items to the target groups throughout Sarawak.
