Distance Learning
Purpose
e-Learning Distance Learning Program (DE) organized jointly between the Ministry of Defence of Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR). The program has been proposed by Y. B. Dato 'Seri Minister of Defence in the number of meetings held management and YB Dato' Seri has launched this program in August 2002.
Background
Distance Learning Program is a learning approach that will maximize the benefit of all the citizens of this Ministry Pertahanan.This would result in the generation of knowledge and skills primarily in the fields of information technology. The program will also provide an opportunity for members of the military, especially for other ranks to increase their preparedness in the era of globalization.
The Ministry of Defence plans to develop the skills and competencies among the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) in accordance with the Information Strategic Plan goals to achieve the vision of K-MOD
Laboratory Facilities
Internet is used for each participant as the media between lecturers and participants. However, participants also need to see a lecturer once a month. Ministry in collaboration with UNITAR, this study has provided courseware according to the study.
The Ministry has provided a computer lab with internet facility. These laboratories have been developed according to the zone:
Northern Zone
Alor Setar and Kedah
Silver Zone
Lumut and Perak
Middle Zone
Wisma Pertahanan and Desa Tun Hussein Onn, Kuala Lumpur
Eastern Zone
Kuantan, Pahang and southern zone of Malacca


- Certificate (Certificate of Information Technology, Management Certificate)
- Diploma (Diploma in Information Technology, Diploma in Management)
- First Degree (Master's Degree in Information Technology and Management)
Participation
The first intake session participants began in May to November 2002, which consists of members of Army is 221 people, 95 members of the Navy and member of the Air is 187.
- First phase implemented in Peninsular Malaysia
- The second phase will be implemented in Kuching, Sarawak.

Management & Management Information and Computer Science.
Candidate
Candidates selected for the program is made up of senior members of the ATM of the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Location Program
Development of computer labs are based on locations which have been identified. The locations are: -
- Desa Tun Hussein Onn, Kuala Lumpur
- Cyber Knowledge Room, the Defence Ministry, Kuala Lumpur
- Shade Army Camp, Malacca
- Air Base, Kuantan, Pahang
- Air Force College in Alor Setar
- RMN Base, Lumut

Considering the learning and training is a process that is always-on and always growing up with technology, it is proper for the officers and staff of the Ministry of Defence get benefit the program. This is a positive step to instil gain knowledge so that future generations can be highly knowledgeable officials and also to manage the organization effectively.
