Lumut, 4 June 2024 – Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin conducted a working visit to the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Lumut Base.
During the visit, the Minister officiated the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) Contributions Presentation Ceremony at the Western Command Fleet Headquarters. Five heirs of the RMN helicopter crash tragedy, who were also LTAT contributors, received the proceeds.
The Minister of Defence also visited the Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) to personally oversee the construction of RMN’s Littoral Combat Ships (LCS). He and his delegation were shown the first LCS, which is currently being finalized. This project's progress is crucial to ensure the RMN receives the ship by the end of 2026.
The 'downslip' process for the LCS 1 ship was successfully completed on May 23, 2024, at 6:30 pm, in compliance with the contract. This process is essential for the construction of LCS1, allowing the shipyard to complete the system integration requirements before implementing various platform and combat system tests later in 2024.
Additionally, the Minister of Defence visited the Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) at the RMN base and received a briefing on the maintenance status.
The Minister officiated the Greeting Ceremony with the base personnel and presented a mock cheque worth RM38,040,000 to the Lumut Base Commander, First Admiral Hj Jamaludin bin Hj Sairi. This cheque is intended for the RKAT maintenance works and the RMN Lumut Base Residence 2024.
During the ceremony, ten students (five primary and five secondary) received a one-off MADANI Education Donation worth RM50, which will be credited to their National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN-Prime) accounts. Additionally, one-off welfare assistance worth RM300 was presented by LTAT to 20 recipients, including personnel or heirs with chronic illnesses.
Lawatan YB Menteri Pertahanan diteruskan ke Rumah Keluarga Angkatan Tentera (RKAT) pangkalan TLDM. YB Menteri Pertahanan diberikan taklimat berkaitan status senggaraan RKAT Pangkalan TLDM Lumut.
Selain itu, YB Menteri Pertahanan turut menyempurnakan Majlis Ramah Mesra bersama warga pangkalan serta menyampaikan mock cheque berjumlah RM 38,040,000.00 kepada Komander Pangkalan Lumut, Laksamana Pertama Hj Jamaludin bin Hj Sairi yang merupakan Peruntukan Senggaraan RKAT dan Blok Penginapan Pangkalan TLDM Lumut Tahun 2024. Dalam majlis tersebut, seramai 10 orang pelajar yang terdiri daripada 5 orang pelajar sekolah rendah dan 5 orang pelajar sekolah menengah Tahun 2024 telah menerima Sumbangan Pendidikan MADANI berjumlah RM50.00 secara one-off ke dalam akaun Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (Simpanan SSPN Prime).
Turut diadakan penyampaian bantuan kebajikan iaitu sumbangan sebanyak RM300.00 secara one-off oleh YLTAT kepada 20 orang penerima dari kalangan anggota atau waris yang menghidap penyakit kronik.
