REPUBLIC OF TURKIYE, 9 June 2024 – Minister of Defence, YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, has arrived in Ankara to begin a five-day official working visit.
During this visit, the Minister of Defence will meet his counterpart, the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. YaÅŸar Güler, and jointly preside over the inaugural Malaysia-Turkey High-Level Committee on Defense Cooperation (HLC).Â
Additionally, the Minister is scheduled to engage with Prof. Haluk Görgün, Secretary of the Secretariat of Defense Industries (SSB), an institution established by the Turkish government to oversee the development of its defence industry and the provision of military technology. Discussions will also extend to STM, a subsidiary and affiliate of SSB, further reinforcing industrial and technological partnerships between the two nations.
A significant highlight of the visit will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Government-to-Government Procurement for Defence Products. Collaboration and Cooperation Agreements involving Malaysian and Turkish defence industry stakeholders will also be formalized, marking a pivotal step in advancing the strategic relationship between Malaysia and Turkey in the defence sector.
