Negeri Sembilan, 13 August 2024 – The 3rd Artillery Division hosted the Firepower Training Exercise 2024 (LKT 2024), which was jointly conducted by the 3rd Artillery Division and the Malaysian Army. This years’ iteration of the LKT was attended by the Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Secretary General, Ybhg. Datuk Seri Isham and Chief of Army, General Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan.
The primary objective of the exercise is to showcase the weaponry and capabilities of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), including both the Malaysian Army and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), in areas such as manoeuvrability, firepower, target impact, and future capabilities, including the use of drones during operations. Additionally, the exercise serves as a crucial assessment of team management, personnel capabilities, and the proficiency of forces in live-fire training.
The LKT 2024 training phase, which commenced from the 4th to 12th of August 2024, is held annually to provide exposure to the Kursus Pemerintah dan Staf Malaysia (KPSM) graduates series 53/2024 from the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC). 180 officers from all three branches of the armed forces, alongside the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), and 36 foreign officers, are currently undergoing the course at MAFSC.
LKT is a combined arms exercise involving the three services of the Malaysian Armed Forces that encompasses two main segments. The first segment, Dynamic, refers to combat vehicle maneuverability, weaponry system applications, impact on targets, and drone usage. The second segment, Indirect Firing, refers to the firing of mortar and artillery assets with assistance from the Royal Malaysian Air Force Team (PUTD).
