GENTING HIGHLANDS, 29 April 2025 – The Track II Network of ASEAN Defence and Security Institutions (NADI) Annual General Meeting is being hosted by Malaysia in conjunction with the ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, taking place from 29 April to 1 May 2025 at Resorts World Awana, Genting Highlands, Pahang.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Lieutenant General Dato’ Seri Haji Muhammad Huzaimi bin Sabri, Chief Executive of the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS) and Chairman of the NADI Annual General Meeting 2025.

NADI serves as a Track II mechanism that facilitates continuous dialogue and intellectual exchange among ASEAN defence and security think tanks. It complements and supports the formal process of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and plays a crucial role in strengthening regional confidence, enhancing transparency, and promoting strategic cooperation.

A total of 13 institutions from ASEAN member states, involving 43 delegates, including representatives from the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM), are participating in this meeting.

Key discussions during the meeting focus on the strategic role of ADMM in addressing the increasingly complex and diverse challenges facing ASEAN unity, and on harnessing emerging technologies to strengthen ASEAN solidarity from a security and defence perspective.

Malaysia remains committed to actively contributing towards strengthening regional defence cooperation through strategic platforms such as NADI.
